The Message in the song. This month- Going Away To College -This is a super-romantic song. Mark wrote the song as though you are a boy leaving your girlfriend, after years of school together. After high school, when you're leaving to go to college, and what do you say to this girl that you've been in love with for years, but now have to leave for years? I don't think it gets more romantic than that. It's a sad song and it's really moving. It's my favourite song of all time, and the way the lyrics flow with the music, I just think it's a really sad, emotional song. It's something a lot of people go through. That's a cool thing to write a song about!
The most useless info ever
Many people know that Blink 182 were originally called Blink, but why add the 182?? Well, some Irish techno band contacted Blink and said that they had stolen their name, so Blink changed their name to Blink 182.
But, why 182? According to the guys, the 182 has no significance at all, it is just a random number. There are rumors about all sorts of things that the 182 means, but it is just a random number.

Quotes by the band:
Mark; "Look at me... look at me... I need the attention, oooh I'm punk rock I got some tatoos, I got some piercings. If I'm gonna get some piercings then I want everyone to see it...I don't need to advertise my punkness. A real punk doesn't need to show off...Its like a Karate man... the Karate man bleeds on the inside. A real punk is punk on the inside." -Im proud of this quote!
"Never let anyone tell you how to live your life." Tom;"Humour has become so clichaed and boring that nothing's funny anymore unless it involves something totally disgusting that offends somebody or makes them feel really uncomfortable." -How true? How true?
"Do I look feminine when I stand like this?" -No comment Travis; "We are just a silly little punk band." -This is the best i could find."Who's beer is this?"
The shortened version of the Blink StoryThe three San Diego dudes that make up the original lineup of Blink 182 (Mark Hoppus, bass/vocals; Tom Delonge, guitar/vocals; Scott Raynor, drums) met in 1993 and decided to form a band. The guys say that they met at a camping trip. Gathered around the campfire, these disturbed kids recognized in one another the same love for songs involving girls, friends, life and chronic diarrhea. They say that after a short-lived turn as "El Cuatro and the Cajones," a mariachi band available for weddings, birthdays and ritual circumcisions, they put aside their sombreros and plugged in their amps, hoping to spread their goodwill, positive attitude and fondness for toilet humor throughout the world. Their evolution to Blink 182 was a good idea. They have toured throughout the US, Canada, Japan and Australia with bands such Pennywise and NOFX. Blink 182 released their first full-length album, Cheshire Cat album in 1995. Later that year they released Map of the Universe. In 1996, they signed a joint venture record deal with Cargo Music and MCA Records. With 1997's Dude Ranch, a new dose of hardcore thrash music, Blink 182 set out to conquer the hearts and souls of America, the world. In 1998, original drummer Scott Raynor left the band and was replaced by Travis Barker. The new lineup appears on Enema of the State, which hit record store shelves in the summer of 1999After Enema was released they had instant hits with singles such as What's My Age Again?, All The Small Things, and Adam's Song. They soon were regulars on MTV and shows like TRL and Making The Video. They gathered a new group of fans (mostly young 12 yr old girls) In their 2000 summer tour with Bad Religion they brought tons of new fans and considered by most "sellouts".Blink 182 has released their CD "Take off your pants and jacket". and they have also just relised their new self titled album.
The Blink Album Alphabet Thing!
All of Blink's albums correspond to letters of the alphabet. On their first demo, "Flyswatter", the CD cover was a painting of the letter "A" which was drawn by Mark. Their next album, Buddha, begins with "B". Then comes Cheshire Cat which begins with "C". Dude Ranch begins with "D". Enema Of The State begins with "E", On the Mark, Tom and Travis Show, Travis's drum has an "F" on it, and the jacket from the cover of Take Off Your Pants And Jacket has the letter "G" on it.
